MATERIALS AND FIXINGS

Fixings:

Vandal and weather resistant zinc plated, galvanised or stainless steel fixings combine bolts, screws and washers for strength and some recessed for safety and conform to EN1176 standards.

Tough plastic caps are used which clip over the tops of all exposed bolts. This prevents them being a hazard and it also stops vandals tampering with the bolts, therefore increasing the lifespan of the equipment.

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Panels:

Durable and colourful plastic panels with multiple coloured layers in which we engrave patterns, shapes and games, through one coloured layer into the next, creating additional visual stimulus and therefore increased play value.

The colours can be used to highlight steps, hand grips, entrances and exits, bringing these features to the attention of children.

This strong and durable material will not rot, delaminate, splinter or crack and is stain and is graffiti resistant. It requires minimal maintenance and boasts UV stable colours. Once the panels have reached the end of their usable life they are recyclable.

PolyDek Sheets:

This is a strong recycled polyethylene board, laminated with a 3mm layer of thermoplastic rubber.

Timber:

All timber requires no further treatment as it is pressure treated to protect it against rot and the natural weathering process. Pressure treatment increases timber's fitness for purpose and protects against fungal decay and insect attack. Impregnated into the timber, the treatment becomes fixed within the wood and does not leach out.

Timber Round section:

Machined rounded timber sections are pressure treated and use safe TanalithE for long service life. Poles are laminated for extra strength.

Timber is quality assured and features a sanded finish to reduce splintering and create surfaces which are smooth and warm to the touch.

Rope:

Our steel reinforced rope is made from a polypropylene centre, surrounded by 6 metal wire rods covered with Multifilament Polypropylene (MFP), providing a slightly softer feel.

Designed specifically for the playground and leisure environment in 16mm (5/8”) and 18mm (3/4”) diameters to meet with the British and European safety standards for playground equipment and a variety of colours to assist development of spatial awareness and promote inclusive play.

Shiplap Roofing:

With an attractive natural appearance, Shiplap is a timber board which interlocks with its neighbour much like floor boards. The resulting roof construction is water resistant and blocks virtually all UV radiation. The shiplap is pressure treated.

Sail Shade Cloth:

Knitted shade cloth specifically designed for tension structures. It has the ability to block 95% of the sun’s direct UV rays, creating a safer outdoor environment that can be utilised for longer.

The knitted structure of the cloth allows the fabric to breathe, which means air can circulate through the fabric to create a substantially cooler environment beneath. With its unique lock-stitch construction it is dimensionally stable, fray and tear resistant and will not mould or mildew. UV stable, the shade cloth will withstand harsh sun rays year after year. It is the world’s most widely used shade cloth.

Tension Structure Fabric:

Our waterproof structures use a 900gsm PVC fabric. The white fabric is supplied with a 10 year warranty and has an expected life-span of 30 years plus, while the coloured fabrics have a 5 year warranty and a life span of 12-15 years.

All of our PVC tension structures are designed to withstand a wind loading of 110mph and a snow loading of around 22kg of snow per m² (approx 100mm deep).

Polycarbonate Roofing:

A roofing option that blocks virtually all UV radiation whilst allowing light through, preventing dark spaces underneath. Completely water proof when combined with guttering, this system can create usable spaces for outdoor learning and bicycle shelters all year round. The translucent sheet material has good impact resistance, essential for use in areas which are close to ball games.
