Mud Kitchens are the perfect addition to any outdoors play space. They encourage children to develop their fine motor skills, increase their understanding of materials and provide opportunities for learners to develop their imaginations through creative play, while having all the fun of making mud pies and potions. This imaginative kitchen also encourages children to interact with others and the world round them, improving speech and language skills and social skills naturally as children play. Teachers can use this as an effective learning resource in any outdoor play area as well as during their forest school activities. It provides limitless opportunities for children to explore and discover using natural resources, bringing them a greater understanding of nature.
The Mud Kitchen comprises of a lengthy, timber framed kitchen unit with a durable, fade-resistant, wipeable worktop, a cooker and two different sized stainless steel sink trays. It offers opportunities for groups of children to work together collaboratively, supporting children developing their social and emotional skills, through investigative play. The oven has a hinged door and the sink bowls are removable, making the Mud Kitchen easy to wash down. It’s ample storage, available both underneath the worktop and through useful hanging hooks both above and on the sides of the unit, enables the easy access and effective storage of any required resources. Little mud chefs can easily and successfully help to tidy and clean the cooker and leave it ready for the next groups.
The Mud Kitchen inspires imaginative role play and can effectively support curriculum teaching and learning. Combined with the Restaurant Activity Panel and a selection of our popular, timber tables and benches you can even develop a substantial play dining space for children to experience. We also have our Mini Mud Kitchen, which is perfect for smaller budgets and spaces.
