Reigate St Mary’s
Reigate St Mary’s is an independent day school with over 350 boys and girls ages 3-11. The School had a disused grass slope area that they wanted repurposing into a Garden Area with opportunities for quiet reflection as well as peer to peer interaction. We created a tiered Garden by installing planters into the slope with additional retaining timber. The Log Walling Seating Pods provide a quiet space for small groups of children to study, whilst the Shelter is perfect for a whole class to enjoy a lesson outside. New Timber Sleeper Steps and a Gravel Pathway were also added to improve the access. The new Garden Area looks beautiful and has thoroughly transformed the use of the space. Children are now able to enjoy partaking in outdoor education. As the grass slope is located beside the Sports Courts the area now provides a great viewing area for spectators.
Outdoor Seating, Shelter and Landscaping
I would not hesitate to recommend Schoolscapes to other schools. From the initial planning stages through to on site build the team were professional and delivered to a high standard. The site was particularly tricky as it involved converting an unused slope area, to the side of our main playground, into a multi-use garden, seating, outdoor classroom area which will be used by pupils, staff and parents to learn, socialise and have quieter play and reflection.
